Nomenclature

Separated from Platycheirus scutatus by Stubbs (2002).

Biology

This species is as yet poorly known. The larvae of the genus are aphidophagous. No obvious habitat affinities have been detected as yet.

Distribution

Primarily known from southern England with a single outlier from north Yorkshire. A difficult species to identify reliably, which will probably limit the number of records.
