NomenclatureAdded to rge British list by Rabarts (2011).
BiologyMembers of the genus Dasysyrphus are aphidophagous but, as yet, the larva of D. pauxillus is unknown. Adults appear to be associated with conifer plantations.
DistributionIt has already been recorded from two sites in the Brecks of East Anglia. This was a North American species that has been spreading west across Europe and its arrival in the UK had been expected.
